In the beginning,......

Hi. I am an undergraduate violin student at Indiana State University majoring in music performance and education. I hope you will find these posts interesting, enlightening, and maybe a little humorous, (but I don't want to be too presumptuous.) I am a very active performer so here's a short list of how I have been spending my time and paying the bills,.........

  • Terre Haute Symphony --section violin, now in my 3rd year.
  • I SU Symphony Orchestra
  • University String Quartet
  • Previous member of the Columbus, Indiana Philharmonic (2 years)
  • I have had oodles and oodles of students where I used to live and I would like to pick up some more in Terre Haute, so if anyone is interested shoot me an e-mail!
  • I play in the This Old Guitar band.
The things I am most interested in are violin performance related and I would like to study in depth violin pedagogy, or the teaching of the violin specifically. I am interested in the difference between the American and British methadology of violin instruction. Lately I have come to the realization that the British system seems to work the best for me. Actually, it works miracles for me! My teacher in high school (and now, the summers, ) was trained at the Royal College of Music in London so I have been able to experience both systems almost side by side for quite an extended period of time. Due to time restrictions, (and the early stages of my research on these matters,) I will expand on these differences later.
